PRECISION LASER MACHINING

Micrometric provides a precision laser machining capability on pre-machined, pressed and fabricated parts. Slots, holes and apertures to “any shape” can be cut. Pre-processed parts, which can be made from most engineering materials, are accurately located in jigs. The geometric tolerances of the laser-machined profiles can be down to 50m. Repeatability is assured by a closed loop control measuring system. For larger volumes and repeat batch work, parts can be robotically loaded into a jig.

The part being laser-machined is from a pressing. It is a speed sensor for an automotive application and is shown finished, top left, in the picture below.

Laser machining of apertures in a pre-machined automotive component. The component is made from 3mm thick stainless steel and the aperture profile is a non-standard shape with a very small internal radius. This requirement is difficult to achieve by more conventional methods like pressing and milling.
